In collaboration with BMW, we conceptualised an ambitious project to revolutionize the car configurator experience. Our goal was to create an immersive, user-friendly platform that showcased BMW's vehicles but with twist - stunning real-time 3D visualization and augmented reality capabilities. Goal was to see how car might look like in your day-to-day environment so you can make a better choice when deciding on such an expensive item.
Car configurators have been a crucial part of the automotive industry, allowing customers to customize their vehicles online. However, traditional configurators often suffer from several limitations:
Limited Visual Fidelity: Conventional configurators rely on static images or pre-rendered videos, which can lack the realism and detail needed to make an informed decision.
Poor User Experience: Many configurators have clunky interfaces, slow loading times, and lack intuitive navigation, leading to a frustrating user experience.
Lack of Immersive Experience: Customers cannot fully appreciate the look and feel of their customized car in a real-world environment, limiting their ability to make a confident purchase decision.
To overcome these challenges, we leveraged the latest technology trends to develop a next-generation car configurator for BMW, focusing on three main areas: real-time 3D visualization, augmented reality, and seamless user experience.
High-Quality 3D Models: We created highly detailed 3D models of BMW cars, ensuring every curve, texture, and feature was accurately represented. This level of detail allowed customers to see their customized car from every angle in stunning clarity.
Real-Time Rendering: Using advanced graphics engines like Unity and Unreal Engine, we implemented real-time rendering, providing instant feedback as users made changes to their configurations. This eliminated the lag and waiting times associated with traditional configurators.
AR Showcase: We integrated AR capabilities, enabling customers to place a virtual model of their customized BMW in their real-world environment.
